Jalan
The word ‘jalan’ means ‘street’ in Bahasa, the official language of Indonesia. In 2011, I walked the streets of various places on the islands of Sulawesi, Java and Bali to try and catch a glimpse of an energetic, ambitious society with a young population, more than 40 percent of which are under the age of 24.
